We are a small family farm in Saratoga County. We moved to Saratoga County from Niskayuna in 2013 in search of a rural lifestyle in hopes to raise our children around animals and nature. What started as a hobby turned into a real working farm where we have been able to instill some traditional work ethic in our kids while having some fun!
Frank is a coach and promoter of the world’s oldest sport of wrestling. When he's not coaching or traveling for tournaments, you can typically find him tending to the cows, chickens, turkeys, and our hemp field.
Marilena works part-time as a financial advisor, enjoys cooking homemade meals for her family, and tends to the animals when Frank is traveling.
Our children, Luca and Cecilia, have also adapted to assisting in daily chores which include feeding and watering the animals and plants, collecting eggs, cleaning the barn, and even baking dog treats with our own CBD oil.
We feel blessed to have our farm and the privilege to raise animals humanely, honoring their lives while they’re with us. It has been a true holistic experience to have our children understand the hard work it takes to put food on the table, where it comes from and how important an animal’s life is and how it should be treated.
We are also proud to be able to provide a consistent, healthy, and safe food source for the local communities in the capital region. In 2019, when the pandemic hit, Frank’s wresting business took quite a hit with lockdowns and closures. Our farm became a sanctuary of peace and serenity during an uncertain period in our lives, providing additional income when we needed it the most.
We raise a variety of animals on our farm, including chickens, turkeys, and cows. We believe there is only one way to raise animals, the way nature intended. Our animals benefit from living in our rural and beautiful setting where they can express their natural behaviors. They are allowed to feed as they naturally would. Our cows graze on grass in open pastures. Our chickens and turkeys are raised organically, in open pastures with an all-natural diet without growth hormones or antibiotics. The result is more flavorful meat and eggs that are cleaner and healthier than most options you’ll find available for you and your children.
Our breeds of cattle include Piedmontese, Angus and mixes of the two breeds. We raise rare Blue Slate turkeys that are solid to ashy blue over the entire body. They are also sometimes called the Blue or Lavender Turkey. We also enjoy raising rare breeds of chickens such as the Ayam Cemani, a rare breed from Indonesia. They have a dominant gene that causes hyperpigmentation, making the chicken mostly black, including feathers, beak, and internal organs-they are very cool to look at!
And we can’t forget about one of our favorite animals, our Goldendoodle, Cooper. Although he is not a working dog, he enjoys chasing the chickens around the yard and pretending to be one of the herd!
